For some people Bryan Johnson might be an eccentric millionaire, his methodology might be questionable, even his business model (especially selling olive oil as the universal panacea) is dubious, but over the last few years he has become an incredible asset to the longevity field that other influencers, authors and scientists had not been able to reach. In a way, he is the MrBeast of longevity. Instead of preaching longevity, he is spending money on himself, and the $2M marked has really picked the curiosity of millions. The rest of us in the field benefit from that.
We must also differentiate the character from the person. The twitter character loves picking fights and joke about erections. The person, who I recently had a chance to meet at a fireside chat, hosted by Adam Gries from Vitalism during the Longevity State Conference 2024 at our clinic, felt very close, down to earth and willing to support the community. Similar to Elon Musk, who you may like or not like for his opinions, we need people like Bryan to break barriers.
At Progēvita we apply some protocols when the evidence, risk and patient profile justify them; for others, we wait or limit use to low-risk experimentation. Ozone therapy, for example, is not an anti-aging shortcut for everyone: it belongs in selected indications, with route, dose, contraindications and follow-up defined in advance.
